Norma Jeanne Laurette is a 100% positive dog trainer and author, with five books published so far, over 34 years experience, over 7000 dog training classes taught and many hundreds of private behaviour and aggression consultations under her belt. She teaches and certifies professional dog trainers through Canine Correspondence Studies with over 750 students & graduates in 17 countries! Norma Jeanne is also Founder and Chair of the International Positive Dog Training Association (IPDTA) since 2002 - the first association world-wide to focus exclusively on positive training and set the international standard for humane dog training.
Norma Jeanne began studying dog training, canine behaviour and aggression therapy in 1987 while touring North America as a professional rock musician. She started private training in 1989 and opened Puppy Power, the first positive dog training school in Kitchener, Ontario in 1992.
Having taught over 7000 classes, rehabilitated many hundreds of dogs, and utilizing years of study including over one hundred canine training, behaviour, aggression and animal sciences courses, lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences and symposiums, Norma Jeanne created the CCS – Canine Correspondence Studies positive, professional dog trainer certification program in 1994. CCS currently has over 750 students and graduates across 17 countries and remains the original, most comprehensive and respected online and practical dog trainer certification career course available, that keeps up to date with the latest science.
Norma Jeanne is founder and Chair of the International Positive Dog Training Association (IPDTA) and is an author with five books published so far and more on the way. She was a conference presenter, columnist and Editor in Chief for the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT) (now known as the Canadian Association Of Professional Dog Trainers - CAPDT). She was a columnist for Pets & Animals magazine and has been published in Animal Wellness and Dogster magazines among other publications. She has lectured at the CAPPDT and IPDTA Conferences, Camp Dogwood North Barrie, Camp Dogwould Ottawa, Lions Foundation Scent Detector Dogs Oakville, the Chienposium at the College de Maisonneuve in Montreal and other venues. Norma Jeanne’s positive and innovative approach to dog training has been featured in newspapers, magazines, on television and radio.
